School Shootings & Anti-Depressants

Columbine Survivor Questions Anti-Depressant Link to Va. Tech

Virginia Tech - Guns or Drugs?

There is now a raging debate over whether guns should again be banned after the terrible slaughter at Virginia Tech.

Yet if students were allowed to protect themselves, this may not have happened.

There are reports that the gunman may have been on anti-depressants. So if there should be an uproar, perhaps it should be about the over-use of psychotropic drugs that have been shown to act as a catalyst for suicide and murder.

CBS News reported on Monday, April 16 - the same day - that 100,000 people a year die from hospital mistakes, yet 42% of MDs say they would not admit to their mistakes. This does not include those who die every year from suicide and homicide related to these same drugs - Prozac, etc.

Bottom line is - far more people die at the hands of doctors and pharmaceutical companies than from guns. But we haven't heard a word of protest in the news media that nearly half of the doctors would lie about their fatal mistakes. And the evidence shows that the proportion of liars among the pharmaceutical companies is far, far greater.

Do we throw out a red herring ... or take deep, serious look at the real underlying causes?

Bees die - our food supply dies!

It seems that up to 80% of America's honeybees are dying off. I also saw this on CBS News a few nights back. This means (a) the price of honey will go through the roof until there simply is no more at any price, and (b) without bees to pollinate, we will see the vast majority of our entire food supply dry up and die.

Here's another piece from Hugh Simpson's US Prepared blog I'd like to share with you.

Hi, just got this from one of our people that confirms what has been growing into a crisis since I first learned of it from our friend Sister Faachal and then confirmed in the New York Times.

Yes, our honey bees are literally disappearing from USA soil. You might wonder how that has to do with being prepared. Well lets let one of our people, Jim, explain this to you after The Bee Man shares what he shared with Jim.

Here's what The Bee Man had to say:

We opened up our hives this week. This Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) has hit us. I've NEVER (our emphasis) seen anything like this. We have been told that in the late 1950s and early 1960s there was "Absconding" going on. Just a rough look thus far leads me to believe that we have 80% losses [of our hive population.]. We are still looking at hives, trying to figure next step. As of today, we are no longer "migratory" beekeepers. We're gonna need bees here [in North-Central Idaho] just to pollinate the local berry, apple and plum crops. The big orchards in Washington State seem to be in trouble too. Take Care, - The Bee Man, in North-Central Idaho.

Here's what Jim had to say:

You are in our prayers, Bee Man! Those of you that have read my novel "Patriots" may remember a character in the Barter Faire chapter called The Bee Man. He was based on a real life individual, who is indeed a "real character."

The full implications of CCD have yet to sink in with both America's grocers, and America's grocery shoppers. The humble honeybee pollinates most of our fruit, berry, and nut crops. Come next Fall, there will doubtless be pitiful crop yields and consequently much higher prices at your supermarket. So stock up on nuts that store
well, such as almonds. Ditto for canned fruit, fruit preserves, jams, and jellies. Also buy some two gallon buckets of honey. It stores literally for decades. I predict that the price of honey will soon more than double, as the available inventory dwindles. You might as well buy your family a 12 to 15 year supply now, while honey is still relatively cheap and plentiful. Honey was probably already on your "stocking up list." In light of the news on CCD, this purchase should be bumped up to the top of the priority list.

Jim is absolutely on target! There will soon be a run on honey that will clean out the shelves and the prices will skyrocket! Good to know that honey can be stored for so long. Also most canned goods can be stored for up to 5 years as I (Hugh) reported in my book. I did not know that bees pollinated nuts too. So I can just imagine how much nuts will be come the 2007 Holiday Season! Possibly up to $10 per can for good quality almonds?

Yes, this is not just alarmist propaganda but as I (Hugh) mentioned there was a very good article on this problem in the New York Times. The experts are really baffled at what is going on. The good Sister reported that her research had shown that there is a mite that can wreak havoc on honey bees. I think that she is correct. However it seems that killing this mite ain't easy.

Just another example of disasters that are beginning to pop up related to our food chain. I (Hugh) personally don't think it has anything to do with Global Warming. Again there was more research as reported this week by Sister Faachal that shows that this heating up is not limited to our planet! Seems that one scientist has been looking at other planets in our solar system particularly Mars which is also facing melting polar caps! I (Hugh) plan to research this further as I think this confirms my greater concern that this so called Global Warming is related to the imbalance of our Sun that we reported about in a previous issue.

Alarming mutation in Bird Flu

Along with trying to maintain my own websites and blog and those of my clients, I like to keep informed about what's going elsewhere across the Internet.

Hugh Simpson from North Carolina, a former investigative reporter (as am I) from Post Newsweek TV (my career was elsewhere), published a blog called

US Prepared at http://usprepared.blogspot.com/ that I've been impressed with. It is now the first blog that gets my recommendation, though there will be others.

That's where the following story comes from.

I think this is a story well worth your attention ... plus he has several others well worth reading. Check him out!

An alarming series of reports from the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences Influenza Research Institute are reporting today that millions of avian species have succumbed, while in flight, to a rapidly evolving virus linked to the deadly H5N1 Bird Flu variant.

Dr. Scientist Oleg Kiselyov, the head of the Influenza Research Institute, states in these reports that a nematode parasite belonging to the ‘Superfamily Subuluroidea’ has now become a carrier of a ‘mutated’ H5N1 Bird Flu Virus with ‘sub strains’ never seen before.

What I have feared the most has also been reported this mutated H5N1 Bird Flu virus has now ‘jumped’ the ‘species barrier’ and is now infecting both animals and insects, and which has also been confirmed by Indonesian scientists, and as we can read as reported by the Malaysian National News Service in their report titled Indonesian Scientist Warns Of Bird Flu In Flies says:

"In the wake of the increasing number of bird flu cases in Indonesia, an Indonesian scientist has warned the government not to place too much of the blame for bird flu on poultry as other animals could also carry the virus.

Veterinary pathologist Wasito of Yogyakarta's Gajah Mada University's veterinary medicine said that other animals such as cats, dogs and even flies could also carry the H5N1 virus. "A study we are conducting here, for example, has convincingly found that it is possible for flies to spread the bird flu virus," he was quoted as saying by the Jakarta Post daily in Yogyakarta yesterday."

So virulent is this new mutated strain of the H5N1 Bird Flu virus that in the past two weeks outbreaks have been reported in China, Egypt, Indonesia, Japan, Nigeria, Hungary, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam, causing the United Nations to issue an alert.

"So far, many countries have managed to progressively control the virus and the global situation has improved tremendously," Juan Lubroth, a senior FAO infectious diseases official, told a news conference. "Unfortunately, at the global scale, many outbreaks remain under reported or unreported. National or international bodies are often not in a position to immediately verify

rumors or reports about unconfirmed outbreaks," Lubroth said."

Based on an extrapolation of reports of birds falling from the air dead, from Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia and North America, Dr. Kiselyov estimates that the World’s avian population have sustained losses in the past month he estimates at 2 million. He further agrees with the United States estimate of over 62 million human deaths, World-Wide, from this new variant of the H5N1 Bird Flu virus, and that the Americans based upon the reports from Harvard University.

The White House had evidently unveiled a foreboding report on the nation's lack of preparedness for a bird flu pandemic, warning that such an outbreak could kill as many as 2 million people and deal a war-like blow to the country's economic and social fabric. It urged state and local governments to make their own preparations beyond the federal efforts.

In the government's first detailed look at the potential effects on public health and U.S. society as a whole, the report said a full-blown pandemic could lead to travel restrictions, mandatory quarantines, massive absenteeism, an economic slowdown "and civil disturbances and breakdowns in public order.

It warned that the
health care system - including doctors, nurses and suppliers of pharmaceuticals - was inadequate to meet the country's needs in a flu pandemic. What we have continually reported here after seeing the ineptness of the US Federal government's handling of Hurricane Katrina and Rita's aftermath is also being reported in this report that says state, local and tribal governments should “anticipate that all sources of external aid may be compromised during a pandemic," meaning that local communities will have to address the medical and non-medical effects of the pandemic with available resources. And if you believe that most local communities can handle a disaster of this magnitude then you are dreaming! ONLY YOU can prepare yourself for this possible disaster and resulting chaos!

Again realize that at US Prepared, LLC we offer both the Preparedness in a Box units and also the Nuclear, Biological & Chemical family protection tents along with ones for local communities that were developed to withstand
missile attacks in Israel.

Also at this time I would like to draw your attention to one of our own members, William McGill, and what he has created for his community on the Net. It is one of the most comprehensive web sites I have seen in a long time! Check it out at Mobile Bay Area and Kudos to Bill! This is something that you might want to consider for your own community as it also can be very easy to monetize too!
